We welcome all the new pupils who have joined our school this year. Our wish for you is that you will be very happy in Scoil Mháthair Dé and we want you all to achieve to the best of your ability and reach your full potential

We are a diverse school community from many countries and share many cultures, languages, traditions and religions. We are all equal and we are all very happy to belong to the community that is Scoil Mháthair Dé.

RUN, WALK OR JOG!

THEMED COLOURS DAY

It's Halloween! Pupils will have the opportunity to dress up in Halloween theme on Friday October 28th but no masks or swords etc please! You are kindly asked to pay 2 euro for our Fundraiser and the money will go to BLUEBOX play therapies. We are delighted to be able to avail of BLUEBOX

PARENT-TEACHER MEETINGS 2016

The annual Parent-Teacher meetings will take place in the school on Tuesday Oct 25th and Wednesday Oct 26th for all parents.  It is very important that parents link up with teachers to discuss a child's progress. Every effort has been made to make this easy for parents who have more than

MIDTERM BREAK

The school will be closed for one week for Mid-Term break from Monday October 31st to Friday November 4th. Wishing all children and their families a relaxing Mid-Term holiday. The school will reopen on Monday November 7th.  

SECONDARY SCHOOLS OPEN NIGHTS

 It is very important for 6th class pupils and their parents to visit Secondary School Open nights before making choices of where pupils will go to Secondary School in September. Open nights have been held since early September. Please refer to the following remaining dates and schools

DRAMA LESSONS

After-school drama lessons began this week. A Junior Drama group starts at 1.45 for one hour and a Senior Group at 2.45. Drama classes take place on Wednesday afternoons in the Junior Infants Room 9. Children can be collected in the yard.

HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOL

 Scoil Mháthair Dé is a Health Promoting School. Please make healthy choices for your children's lunches in school. No sweets, biscuits, fizzy drinks, crisps or sweets. Let's all help to make good habits and good choices part of our day. Let's show good example. Thank you for supporting us

BIODIVERSITY

 Geoff Hunt a biodiversity specialist who visits our school every year and is building on our Biodiversity Plan with the pupils. Today he met with the pupils from Junior Infants to Second Class to explore the world of animals and help us prepare the school to look after our native birds.

MUSIC GENERATION

SMD are very lucky that pupils in the middle and senior classes have begun another school year with tutors from Music Generation. Read a lot more re the Music Generation Programme on www.musicgeneration.ie  

SPORTS

Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes will be starting Football on Thursday for the six weeks up to Mid Term. This will be followed after the break with Rugby for the following three weeks and all the training will take place on Thursdays. Basketball will continue every Friday until the
